About

Figurative painter based in Argenton-sur-Creuse, I paint the Creuse, the Sédelle and its lights.

After stopping for many long years, I went back to painting. I tried several techniques - oil, watercolor, India ink - and I am still searching. That's what coming back is about.

At first, I painted my town: Argenton-sur-Creuse. It felt natural to start again with what I know best.

Little by little, I am moving more and more towards fully assumed figurative painting, and my territory has expanded. The Creuse remains at the heart: the Sédelle and its mauve rocks, its green waters in the undergrowth, the blue house by the water, the ruins of Crozant. And then a few escapes, like the carrelets of Fouras or the lime tree of Anzême.

In these latest paintings, my work has evolved. I am less after the subject than after the light: the intense blue of a sky that overwhelms everything, the deep green of water reflecting tree trunks, the violet of a wet rock. The formats are getting larger too - 27x46, 38x62 cm for Crozant - which forces me to be more precise.

I am still searching, but the direction is clearer now: figurative work, anchored here between the Sédelle and the Creuse, with a growing focus on water, rock and greenery.
