Stripe payments for artists: accept cards straight to your bank account
Stripe secures the card payment. You connect your own account: the buyer pays online, and the money arrives directly in your bank account.
Stripe collects, MycreArt prepares the rest
Two distinct roles. Stripe holds and pays out your money, never MycreArt.
A licensed payment institution
Stripe is registered with European banking authorities to accept card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments. If you already use Stripe, sign in with your usual credentials during activation. Stripe may then offer to reuse some previously verified details for the separate account dedicated to your MycreArt sales.
The money never passes through MycreArt
When a buyer pays, Stripe processes the payment and transfers the money to your bank account. MycreArt never holds the funds: that is how the 0% MycreArt commission is possible.
MycreArt wires up your sales channels
Once Stripe is connected, MycreArt prepares your payment links, their QR codes, the "Acquire" button on your Pro Site and the sale documents as soon as the payment is confirmed.
Only standard Stripe fees apply (around 1.5% + €0.25 per European card, for reference). Always check the current rate in your Stripe account.
Activate Stripe in four steps
Card collection is part of Pro mode. Plan a few minutes for the connection.
-
1
Activate Stripe from your Pro settings
In your Pro settings, start the Stripe connection. You are redirected to an official Stripe page.
-
2
Enter your identity and bank details
On the Stripe page, sign in with your usual credentials if you already use Stripe. Activation concerns a separate account dedicated to MycreArt. Depending on your situation, Stripe may offer to reuse some previously verified details and may request additional documents.
-
3
Choose your sales channel
Back on MycreArt, enable the sale on an artwork, then share the payment link, display its QR code at an opening, or let a visitor click "Acquire" on your Pro Site.
-
4
Collect the payment and receive your payout
Stripe confirms the payment, MycreArt generates the sale documents and can attach the certificate if you set it up. Stripe then transfers the money to your account, often within a few business days.
Direct, clean and traceable collection
Card payment is useful when the buyer wants to pay right away — remotely, in the studio or after an exhibition.
0% MycreArt commission
The money goes from the buyer to your bank without MycreArt taking a single cent. Only standard Stripe fees apply.
Secure payment
Stripe hosts the payment form: no card data passes through MycreArt. Card-payment security standards apply, with 3D Secure validation, by default.
One account for every channel
The same Stripe account powers your payment links, your Pro Site shop and your commercial requests after discussion.
Sale documents generated
As soon as the payment is confirmed, the invoice or receipt is generated, the certificate can be attached, and the artwork is marked sold in your inventory.
What to have on hand
Stripe asks for this information during the connection. Preparing it helps you move faster.
-
A valid ID (national ID card or passport).
-
Bank details in your name, or your declared business name: this is where Stripe will send your sales.
-
Your business registration number if you have a declared activity (sole trader, limited company, etc.).
-
The postal address linked to your activity and a phone number where you can be reached.
-
A quiet moment to answer any verification requests from Stripe.
Frequently asked questions about Stripe payments
Stripe will ask for information about your identity and your activity. If you are a registered artist-author, sole trader or company, provide your business information and registration number when Stripe asks for it. If you are unsure about your status, check with your accountant or La Maison des Artistes.
For reference, European cards (EEA) are often around 1.5% + €0.25 per payment. UK cards, cards outside the EEA or corporate cards can cost more. The official and up-to-date rates are on stripe.com/en/pricing.
No. MycreArt runs on a Pro subscription: zero commission on your sales, whatever the amount. Only standard Stripe fees apply, and they are deducted by Stripe before the transfer to your bank.
By default, Stripe transfers funds to your bank account within 2 to 7 business days depending on your history and country. For a new account, the first transfer can take a little longer while Stripe reviews your activity before enabling recurring payouts.
Refunds are triggered from your Stripe dashboard; MycreArt receives the information by notification and updates the sale status. The Stripe fees on the initial payment are kept by Stripe. In case of a buyer dispute (chargeback), Stripe applies its procedure and MycreArt marks the sale as disputed and notifies you by email.
Activating payments creates a separate Stripe account dedicated to your MycreArt sales. If you sign in during activation with your usual Stripe credentials and your situation is eligible, Stripe may offer to reuse some previously verified details and your payout bank account. The new account may then be accessible from the same Dashboard, but this connection isn’t guaranteed. Stripe may also request additional information.
Yes. Stripe is a payment institution licensed with the European banking authorities, used by millions of businesses — your latest online purchases probably already went through it without you knowing. The ID and bank details are a legal verification requirement that applies to every financial institution, just like opening a bank account. These documents go to Stripe directly: MycreArt never sees or stores them.
Yes. Recording your sales, the documents and the buyer directory work for every sale — cash, transfer, cheque, card on a terminal. Stripe is only used for online card payment: payment links, QR codes and the "Acquire" button on your Pro Site. You can work without Stripe, and connect it the day a buyer wants to pay remotely.
MycreArt prefills the “Art Dealers and Galleries” category (MCC 5971), which also covers artists selling their work directly. Stripe may therefore not ask you to select an industry during onboarding. If your account is mainly used for another activity, check your business information in your Stripe Dashboard; if the category cannot be edited, contact Stripe Support.
