Get paid by card with a link or a QR code

A buyer wants to pay by card, remotely or in front of you at a fair. You create a link for the artwork, send it by message or have them scan its QR code: they pay on a secure page, and the sale is recorded on its own.

Open “Payment links” In your artist space.
The whole task on video, from creating the link to the QR code.

Before you start

Screen 1 · Sales

In the menu, open Sales, then the Payment links tab. On a phone, this tab only shows its icon, a bank card.

The top of the Sales page: the Sales, Buyers and Payment links tabs.

Screen 2 · Payment links

Click New link, at the top right. On a phone, it is the + button.

The Payment links page: the New link button at the top right, and the Stripe connected status, ready to receive payments.

Screen 3 · Create a payment link

Leave Sell an artwork selected and click Select an artwork. In the window that opens, choose the artwork, then Confirm selection.

The Create a payment link form: Sell an artwork is selected, then the Select an artwork button.

The selection window, one artwork chosen:

The Select artworks window: the list of artworks for sale with their price, one artwork chosen, and the Confirm selection button.

The Payment link title and the Amount come from the artwork sheet: the buyer will see them on the payment page. Correct the amount if you agreed on another price.

The filled-in form: the Payment link title, named after the artwork, and the Amount, taken from its price.

On the 14-day withdrawal right line, keep Yes for a distance sale, agreed by message, e-mail or phone. Choose No if it is concluded in person, at the studio or at a fair.

Below the Amount, the 14-day withdrawal right line with the Yes and No choices, and the sentence saying what the buyer will see.

At the bottom of the form, click Create payment link. Nothing is sent: the link page opens, and you are the one who passes it on.

The bottom of the form: the Buyer language, then the Cancel and Create payment link buttons.

Screen 4 · Payment link

Copy the Share link with the button to its right and paste it into a message, or use Share via: WhatsApp, e-mail, SMS. Is the buyer in front of you? View full size enlarges the QR code: they scan it with their phone.

The link page: its title, the Active status and its amount; the Share link with its copy button, the QR code with View full size, Download and Print, then Share via; the link details, its statistics and the Deactivate this link button.

Done

The buyer opens the link and pays by card, on a secure payment page. As soon as the payment is confirmed, the sale is recorded in Sales, the artwork becomes Sold, the link is deactivated and you receive an e-mail. The buyer receives theirs, with the receipt or invoice and, if it exists, the certificate: these mailings are set up through Configure emails sent to buyers, in the Payment links tab. Until then, the link stays Active in the list, with its views and payments.

The list of payment links: the link for the artwork, its amount, the Active status, 0 views and 0 payments.

What if…

No Stripe account yet?

The New link button stays grayed out and the page shows “Stripe not configured”, with the Connect Stripe button. How to proceed: Connect Stripe and enable purchases on my site.

The buyer is slow, or you change your mind?

The link stays valid as long as it is neither paid nor deactivated, and the artwork stays for sale: the link does not reserve it. To stop it, Deactivate this link on its page: this is final. To hold the artwork for one buyer, prefer the proposal: Send a sale proposal.

A deposit, a commission, a custom amount?

At the top of the form, choose Custom link: no artwork to select, you give a title and an amount. Like the others, this link is for a single payment.

The artwork has to be shipped?

Before creating the link, tick Request a separate shipping address under Payment link options: the buyer says where to deliver. The link does not add shipping costs: include them in the amount.
